  • Though these are amusing, I'm not sure these are stories that would blossom into fruition these days with HIPPA. The likelihood of an officer gaining access to personal information such as a patient's full name would be rare. I was given a patient's name only once, and that was because she was concerned that her ex might come while she was there and hurt her or cause trouble. I have an open line with the city Chief of Police and we ran her ex through the system to find he had no warrants.

  • @TDLAuburn Even before HIPPA rules hospitals had rules to prevent patient information being given out. But there has always been a close relationship between police/fire/ems/security/ER staff. Police would come in and just listen to what was being said. Or police would stand at the desk and look at paper work. Also police would come in and say "I was just wondering what was the ETOH level on" this guy or that guy. The HIPPA rules are very strong now and have teeth.

  • Good day to you sir ..... Good to see "Old School" Common sense in action ....

  • Michigan Contract Security Agencies who are approved by the State police have full arrest powers on there property there sworn to protect. Dont believe me look up the legistaltion

  • @hnbbs That's really too bad. Do FL security officers have to be state licensed individually? It doesn't make sense why they can't for such crimes, if they aren't working as a government agent, it'd make sense. But I'm sure people pressured legislature to write a bill to restrict powers and preserve individual rights. It's too bad. But again I could understand where citizens are coming from. One bad apple gives the rest a bad name.

  • @le238man Did you know that the firefighters that were sent into the building also told people to stay where they were until help reached them? Did you know most of the firefighters died because of poor communication skills? It is noted that they were supposed be called out because of the building imploding but the communication between the base and field caused them to die as well. I don't see any need to criticize because everyone's human, we're all bound to make mistakes.

  • @airjor1 If I remember correct they used him in the Watergate movie. He died broke I think. I reading about him. It might have been in Wikipedia. I love Wikipedia and look up people and things often it it.

  • @le238man Sort of pointless to mention those cases...You can do the same for doctors, nurses, priests or any group of people. Let us not forget police officers. There have been cases of firemen starting fires. There was even an expert arson officer that was starting fires. There are a lot of people in the world and some of them are bad. I worked with a nurse and he was an ass hole and made a medication error and killed a patient. I can not think of a group that does not have a bad one.

  • @le238man A lot of security officers lost their lives in the World Trade Center. I worked at one hospital in Kansas City and out of ten officers we had two officers shot in less than a year. One killed in the line of duty. They both saved other people from being killed. Just myself I saved a number of doctors and nurses and patients and visitors from being attacked. You got good guards and bad ones...It is like any other group of people..I saw a few bad doctors.

  • @canman87 He knew when the police office took him why he was being arrested. It is just the doctor and two nurses did not know. That is what, I think, makes it so funny. Hell I don't know.. the next time they saw one of the local police officers and I was not working they may have asked him about that and he might have told them. Smile
