The afternoon started off badly for Pontypridd as Richard Parks' kick-off failed to make the required ten metres, but putting that early setback behind them, the home team proceeded to impose themselves on the game.
Kicking for territory and dominating the forward exchanges, Ponty set up a big driving maul for lock Cory Hill to claim a touchdown, the score converted by Dean Gunter. Impressive full back Harley Thomson set off on a weaving run to cross for another try, and when winger Owen Williams was put in on the overlap Ponty looked well worthy of their 17 point advantage.
Llandovery however fought heir way back into contention, and with Ponty now guilty of yielding possession, the game looked far more evenly balanced. Tries scored by Adam Warren and Matthew Jacobs, both converted by outside half Cerith Rees, hauled the Drovers back to within three points, going into the interval trailing by 17pts to 14.
Both sides made numerous changes and Ponty seeming to benefit the most as they once more proceeded to dominate in the tight and loose.
Winger Lewis Williams imperiously waltzed his way through the visitors' defence to claim a try for Pontypridd, converted by Gunter. Working off a solid forward platform Gunter then broke through for a try of his own which he also converted.
The home side were now putting together some scintillating phases of play, centre Adam Thomas claiming a try, converted by Gunter, followed by a second touchdown for lock Cory Hill.
As Craig Locke barged over for another try, Ponty were very much in the ascendancy, the ensuing conversion from Dean Gunter notching up a half century of points. There was no let up in the home team's attacking intent, wing Chris Clayton crossing for a try, and the Ponty pack's dominance confirmed as a five metre scrum drove over the line for no8 Dan Godfrey to claim a try which Gunter duly converted.
Their final pre-season warm up game had proved a profitable exercise for the Ponty squad, notching up ten tries in an emphatic home win by 62pts to 14.
