Holiday 2010: How To Make a Santa Hat, Elf Hat and Stockings

Note: I caught a cold while in Dallas, so I am kind of out of it. haha let me know if my Sudafed mistakes!

Holiday hats are so fun! I love wearing my Santa hat around my house during the winter. It keeps me warm and it makes me look so jolly. You can make this with no sewing experience. It's so easy. The same hat technique is used to make stockings. I love double whammy DIY projects!

guys, if your worried about price for all these awsome ideas, just use old stuff! i have tore up a bunch of ugly old too tight shirt & they make great projects! old stained pillow cases & sheets are good too. check the thrift store for cool shirts you can rip up too. super old jeans are great too :)

@SecretLifeOfaBioNerd i want to be creative during the summer (you've inspired me!) Where can i get a super cheap sewing machine? is there anything under $50? and I have no money, so i have to ask my parents. when i start a hobby, i usually just spend a ton of money and never commit, so can i somehow convince my parents that i really want this? Sorry for all the questions.

I recently bought some at the fabrics department in Walmart.

cute!i have made stockings for everyone in my family out of old jeans. the denim is so cute, especially when you use pockets, buttons, and other details from the denim.i decorate them with found objects like buttons, old jewelry, tassles and ribbons, patches (like sports teams or company logos) specializing them for each persons interests or likes.its great because they all go together, but they are all individual (and cost me pennies, since its recycled fabric!)
