After riding one of the smallest boards ever at Backdoor and Pipeline (a 5′11″ to be exact), this Deep Six model from Channel Islands surfboards is the talk of the surf world. This collaboration between Kelly and Al Merrick is helping Kelly continue his dominance, and as we saw in Round 1 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, he is continuing with this shorter and wider-point-forward theory for 2009. Its not just about board though, and Kelly goes into fin discussion as well, giving insight into his FCS fin choice for the Deep Six. Heres Slater talking about this Deep Six model and explaining it in detail for all us humans to understand.

  • 808wiz rekons he dont go straight like other peeps he knows..slaters point about the board was long board arse- shortboard nose to ride a shorter board in bigger barrels.. if ya riding barrels you can only weave so much to get more speed to get out.. or, hold the same line with out weaving to get out..so.. i was just wondering if 808wiz is some crazy cunt who does big roundhouse cutbacks in the barrel.. seen as he dont go straight, like other people he knows

  • @rodeoflipmaster just commenting on the way of the world in surfing these days. It's bad enough that the ASP is in jeopardy let alone a core surfbrand being sold to a core snowboard brand. How about those new NFL boardies by Quik. I bet u have a pair. Juggernaut!

  • @brogan4life are you retarded or just really high?

  • Sick shape!!

  • im 5'10" and 175'ish lbs. and I surf a 5'5" x 22.5" wide x 3.25" thick. chode of a board.. it look like a disc.. Paddles sooooo good, lots of people are amazed how i can get into any wave, and then when they see me stand on it they are blown away with how small it is.....Thicker is better, If you go to fast then just lean back!! its great for making sections and doing 360's.... I also use a windsurfing board for a long board.... check out my page

  • go surf now that there is no good enough surfer shut up !!!

  • Amazing other surfers still have not picked up on this, what was he riding at teahupoo? A 5'8 or something? And looked 10 times more comfortable in the barrel than a lot of other guys on bigger wave boards. Goes to show as long as you can paddle in shorter is typically better.

  • @16fcali thats funny how i commented that and then scrolled down and saw someone else is thinking the exact same thing

  • kelly sounds exactly like bill murray in caddyshack here
