The demo sure looks like its being done on a Dell Latitude XT2 Tablet PC, perhaps another clue as to which vendor will be first to offer it. The XT2 is not one of the laptops that Ubuntu has certified for use with 10.10.

  • yo dog i heard you like videos, so we put a video in a video so you can watch a video while you watch a video.

  • where did you get the touch overlay?

  • Music? Please

  • I think I would like a virtual trackpad/pointer to go with onscreen keyboard for using legacy programs.

also pinch gesture to zoom out to multi desktop view( copying apples' sideways/up/down swipes would be ok too, but i'd want that 4 fingers and keep 3 fingers for drag. 1finger light press=item 2=scroll 3=drag-window 4=drag desk.. more fingers = impact bigger item)

i wonder if there's a decent way to rework traditional menus other than just making the text bigger (global radial menu perhaps)

  • @codeythesilent yes, i agree. I hate Unity with a passion. even gnome 3 is gross. i'll stick with gnome 2 :P

  • @KeepHerGoing123

    Unity?

    Ew...

    I'll admit, that's Ubuntu's homebrewed POS.

  • @codeythesilent Thats wrong. OS X is a POSIX compliant system, so the similarities between it and Ubuntu (software-wise[such as the multiple desktop features in OS X]) are solely the ideas that linux brought to life in the late 90's. As far as the other things that are similar, those aren't copies off mac at all. Mac doesn't have a launcher like the unity desktop and the unity desktop doesn't have a dock anything like Mac's. Thats like saying the apple menu stole from Window's start menu.

  • @KeepHerGoing123

Um, linux came up with their stuff AFTER OS X... that makes no sense what you just tried saying.

  • @codeythesilent i disagree. the idea of showing all your apps on one screen is brilliant. mac may have come up with it, but in the case of these two operating systems, mac has a lot its taken from linux. and i mean ALOT. the ideas that they use (albeit similiar) are anybodies game. Multitouch has been around since the 50's, and Ubuntu will never be as intuitive as apple's products. gestures weren't either parties idea. the original use of gestures (fully) in an OS was with WebOS on palm pre's :)

  • multi touch gestures, expose clone... yup, ubuntu's hoping on the bandwagon and copying OS X.
