ROFLMFAO. this is a basic kungfu wrist lock and hes nubbing it. the hand grabbing the attackers forearm is weak and heavily depends on the thumb and fingers to have the best grip possible. your power in that counter comes from your hips and legs, your arms & hands properly connects and arranges itself to channel the power. W/ proper grip and use of hip/legs this can work regardless of your opponents. Using pure upperbody str is a VERY VERY BAD IDEA and if you have to ask then pm me
