I would love to have a car as nice as this 1. I have a 1995 Lincoln Towncar ( kinda like the little brother to the Continental) and i love all lincolns that i have ever seen!

I had a 63 Lincoln Continental Convertible white with black top black interirior, i used to constantly fill up the hydraulics with brake fluid because of leaking lines. But yours seem out of align by about an inch or 2.

i don't know much about the cars but i would put my money on the driver side hinge is to far forward and that makes the catch pins pop out on the way out just like a hood has it been rear ended ?

let us know if it got fixed!!

I think the popping up of the deck lid is due to the adjustment of the deck lock limit switch. The switch signals the deck to open before the deck lock screw on the driver's side is completely out so pressure builds and as the screw is released, the lid pops. As for the scrapes and gaps, the lid and flipper can be adjusted as can the locking parts on both sides of the car. You have to make all the adjustments before it will all work smoothly.

I also don't think the deck lid alignment has anything to do with it. The flipper lid can be adjusted left-right-up-down, so check the flipper lid alignment screws. By the looks of it this car has not been hit. It merely needs some minor adjustments to those deck lid closing screws and flipper lid alignment. Gorgeous car either way.

I had a similar problem with my '61 T-Bird convertible and at times the deck lid could not open, I just heard a constant clicking sound, so I think you need to check the part (the threaded well) which the deck lid screws turn into when the deck lid closes. Sometimes due to the constant raising and lowering of the top, they can become loose. They can be tightened and adjusted from under the rear wheel well. I don't think the deck lid alignment has anything to do with it.

Mike, call Ron Bakers Auto in Putnam Connecticut @ 1-800-962-9228 ask for Steve. These guys specailize in these Lincoln's. They were a huge help with my 1965 Continental. Also, make sure the car is level, these Lincoln's tend to tweek and bend if on a grade or uneven ground. I think if the car were hit at some point you would have more trouble with the roof alignment. Make sure whoever works on the deck lid know's what they are doing, these Lincoln's are VERY touchy!

Hi Everyone. Yes, I got the top fixed. All of the comments were great... Apparently, my lincoln had a rear-ender in its past, evidenced by some light bondo work on the rear right quarter panel. Its out by about quarter inch. Anyways, it needed a tweak, and now is great. By the way... the groaning sound was the power steering pump. Now I have changed it and purrs like a kitten. Thanks all. Mike
