@SamWiseGingy That sounded like you agreed... it truly is a nice story and whether or not it is historical fact does not remove the meaning and lessons of the story. Of course that's different than holly roller bible flipping "Gospel" forms of "Christianity" which is why I resisted reading it myself for so many years. I've never thought reading it required setting aside any natural law or rationality..
You presume that I am ignorant of the Bible and Christianity because I have chosen to reject it. If you knew BM and he knew who I was I assure that BM would tell you that I am not ignorant of the Bible and Christianity.
Perhaps the story in the Bible is not worthy of belief. It may be a nice story to some but believing the story as historical fact is simply not rational. There is simply not evidence to set aside natural law and rationality enough to believe the "Gospel."
@SamWiseGingy hmmm you sound lost like I once was - as was raised atheist... Try reading a bible cover-to-cover like a story w/ agnostic wonderment lacking proof yet suspended disbelief. Thats how it works for me where its essence is the hope that Jesus restores hope in our otherwise hopeless story... a hope that transgresses that story into real life even today. Hope that helps.
You may be interested to know that I am an atheist. I knew you from Cedar Ridge, and I hope our paths cross again someday.
IMO those who renounce hell are on a trajectory to renounce the rest of Christianity. I all so maintain that rationality tends toward heresy. If your theological trajectory is similar to mine you will find that the more reason you mix with your faith the less faith you mix with your faith.

Hello Brian,
You may be interested to know that I am an atheist. I knew you from Cedar Ridge, and I hope our paths cross again someday.

Good seeing you.
