Oh, by the way, also Lithuanian-Americans, dwarfs, albinos, childbirth defect victims--none of these people were included either. How moronic this comment is. No one deliberately excluded any groups. They simply omitted this aspect. They also did not include every mother's struggle at home, or the price of tires back in the states while war was raging abroad. They didn't post recipes or show pictures of high school graduations occurring at home. What a dopey cause this person has adopted.
What a moron. Why don't we just list every damned ethnic group that was part of America in the 1940s and mention them too? A documentary can only expose so much. At the end of the day, it must also be entertaining, because that's what TV is to most people. There were certainly no sleights toward Latinos, just as there weren't to other ethnics. Please stop splitting hairs. If you wish, you can help to fund a film on ONLY Latinos' participation in WWII. Ridiculous.
I could not disagree more strongly with this. No group should hold anyone hostage because they aren't represented - this guy is an artist - this isn't the government here. Horrible!
I watched the latin and native american inputs that were made in the documentry and they were the most annoying aspect of the whole documentry . Ken Burns really wanted people to step forward and tell their stories and the added interviews sounded forced .
Ken Burns DOES NOT deserve the flak he is getting from these ethnocentric Latino organizations. The whole purpose of the documentary was to focus on four towns during the war, not ethnic groups.
Sarcasm: And how dare Ken Burns leave out the million Irish-Americans who fought in WWII as well!
Ken Burns tells of the prejudices during the war, most people doing documentaries are NOT EVEN so inclusive as Ken Burns because that's VERY difficult.
I loved the documentary. However, people tend to forget that American Indians and Latino did fight in the war.
