Well, if the drives survived THIS, including being RUN OVER BY A CAR, then it looks like mine is in the clear (for now). (Dropped mine on the floor at the airport security check when I tried to close my laptop bag in a hurry)

I got the Samsung G2 640GB White which is just lovely!
Never had any problems with it.
Probably the best portable harddrive ever!
The price is fantastic and it performs optimal considering it's limits with USB 2.0.
One thing bothers me! I cannot use it as a internal drive by taking it apart since it doesn't have any SATA controller. USB only :( But I guess that is part of what makes it so damn cheap!

Two months after buying a Samsung G2 it just stopped working, beeps repeatedly....sometimes it shows up in my computer. When i can access it i cant transfer files on or off without getting a checksum error. I use the HD to Dj with....a few occasions it has dropped out and re detected itself several times during a night, I stupidly bought another thinking it was just a random problem.,its just happened again. No Support, No Help and i've lost my data TWICE!! DONT BUY!

i have the same HDD (SAMSUNG G2 500GB) I've dropt it a few times and it doesn't have a thing

I Didn't have to drive a mini over mine. It just stated beeping one day and now it is only recognised for 5 mins before it dissapears and is then redetected. Very annoying, it has alot of important data on there that i cant access. I recommended this HD to friends to and theirs has since stopped working. If you buy this make sure you keep your reciept.
