Most have some type of VW bug engine. But as a kit car, the sky is the limit. I have one with a rotary out of an RX7 and another one with a Nissan V6 out of a 300ZX. I've seen everything from a 1200cc Bug engine to a V8 to a mid-mounded turbo out of a Subaru WRX STI. This one (I was told) was a later model "type IV" engine, which was one of the stronger aircooled VW engines. Fun cars. Very versatile.
