It would be fare to say that you should be guided by your teacher as to what 'look' works best for you and your style. The second "guide'" is your parents and what is reasonable or they can afford. look for a 2nd hand dress first as there are some fantastic opportunities these days to be economical in this regard - do the "GOK" thing and add some embelishments to bring it upto date.
