Dave Gleason, Head Coach of Athletic Revolution in Pembroke MA, explains how often differences in childhood development are not taken into account when providing youth fitness programs to young children.
Youth fitness programs need to have each child's best interest in mind. There are certain sensitive and critical periods in a young athlete's life when they are most likely to pick up varying skills associated with human movement.
Having this knowledge is the foundation to realizing how to construct a youth fitness program that is developmentally appropriate for the child(ren) you are working with on a day to day basis.

This is the reason we provide all teams with a custom program. Great message Dave!

It's amazing that so many people think that training kids is just like training 'little adults'. Thanks for the reminder and great info!
