This video shows how to use matrices to solve systems of linear equations on the TI83 and TI84 series of graphing calculators. There is a historical snippet. The matrix arrays are shown. It shows how systems of equations in standard form and the keystroke by keystroke process of entering the equaitons into the calculator, calculating the solution, and interpreting the values. Checking the solution is also emphasized.

  • how do u do this on a scientific calculator? i cant find the rref button

  • @lifeDotGov I don't know of any scientific calculators that will do matrices. I'm sure there must be some, but I am unaware of any. Maybe you can do a search with your model of calculator entered. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

  • Thank you so much, you just made my life allot easier :)

When i have to check you said hit 3 -> Storage -> X but where do i find the x and y???

  • @SilentQ I'm not sure I understand your question, but at 5:52, look at the two numbers circled in red. The one on top is the x value, 3, and the one on the bottom is the y value, negative 2. So those are your coordinates for your answer, (3, -2). Those are the numbers you check on your testing. On the other video you commented on, the background music is related to the subject, but I agree that it's too loud and distracts. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

  • Thnaks now i can do my algebra homework much faster! :)

  • @donovanfonseca Thanks. But don't forget other ways too since you might be tested without being able to use a calculator. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

  • @gdawgrapper my calculator has matrix mode.. i figured out how to edit and store matricies but can't figure out how to make it simplify it into the diagonal 0 thing o_o.. if it has matrix mode it must be able to do this? SHARP brand el-w516x
