My Day in Barrow, Alaska

Recorded July 14, 2000. I took flight from Fairbanks to "the top of the world." Barrow is the northernmost point on the continent, 330 miles north of the Arctic Circle, and Alaska's largest Eskimo village. The rhythms of life are still dictated by the natural environment and animal behavior. Local residents enjoyed sharing their stories and culture on my visit to the Inupiat Heritage Center, where I experienced local music, native dances, and the traditional blanket toss. I examined the tundra, saw Arctic Ocean ice, a whale bone arch, and walked on a beautiful beach as far north as I will ever travel.

Did you fly up there from Fairbanks as part of a tour? And if so, which company did you use?

I LOVE Living here in Barrow. It's great. I love the Inupiaq food. Not to crazy about the store food prices but i love it here.
