This is my tribute to the late great John Candy. Thanks for making me laugh so much. He is very much missed.

My son's best friends aunt lived next door to John Candy in CA. Her and her husban were retired doctors, John would have parties at his house climb over the wall and take peachs off her tree. The next day he would send a big container of all kinds of fruits with a I'm sorry note. When the aunt died he bought the house and property from my son's friends mother who the aunt left it to for three or four million dollars tore the house and wall down, lived their until he died.

We watch "The Blues Brothers", "Uncle Buck" religiously at our home and "Planes Trains and Automobiles". Comedies aren't the same, John Candy's parents must be so proud to have brought a human being into this world that gave such joy to millions of fans. The man was funny and so talented and he didn't use profanity to get laughs he didn't have to. Thanks for this post

Thank you for this moving tribute. I worked with John and the entire cast of SCTV when SCTV was first started out in Edmonton. One of his favorite places was Shogun Restaurant just off Jasper Avenue. Many great times there, he was an amazing storyteller and a comic genius.

The day he died, my sister called and left a message on my answering machine:
her entire family was in mourning for John Candy.. and she never leaves me messages.
That sort of tells you how much we thought of him.
