george is not ruining star wars. he is not remaking the original trilogy, he is just adding stuff, how is that "rapping your childhoods". get a life all of you!

The thing is that he's not retiring completely. He's only retiring from the "Hollywood" blockbuster-type of business. He said that he's still going to make the small, esoteric, personal films that are released in art houses.

it's sad to be honest, and to give him so much flaq is worse, cause honestly, you cannot be a true fan if you only like three of the films. I love all 6 films and each is just as good (the original trilogy is actually about on par with the prequels, yet no one realizes that, to them, it was their child hood so it's better, when no it's not... I am sad to see Lucas leave, and honestly hope he doesn't, I would love to see more stuff from him (star wars or something else)

I honestly don't think anybody can call themselves a film fan and then turn around and say they hate George Lucas. Like you said, he has done more for this industry than anyone ever has. Yes, he made some mistakes on Star Wars (mistakes he still won't own up to, but I digress) but his influence will always be remembered.

Poignant John, I could feel your sadness.
So many movies I love are down to those influences. Hell I like Episode II, love Episode III and Episode I is a good movie at the end of the day.
Indiana Jones, love em all, ALL.
He can retire proud.
