Meet Zuko Boyambo as he participates in the Cape Town 2006 Homeless World Cup as the goalkeeper for South Africa, the host nation.
A beautifully shot short film that provides a glimpse into Zuko's experience of homelessness in Cape Town and just what it means to him to play football and represent his country in the Homeless World Cup.

  • I find it ironic that Nike is sponsoring an event that is trying to make a statement against global poverty. It's kinda like the tobacco companies who do anti-smoking ads to try and improve their image. If Nike really cared about the poor they would change some of their global business practices, instead of dumping money into an event so they can wave their logo in front of the camera some more.

  • Have you checked out Nike's business practices? I'd encourage you to do that.

  • If they're all poor then how could they afford to fly there?

  • The teams are sponsored and also fundraise to raise the money for their tickets.

  • the coaches find each poor person at the countries and they pay for them (the players) each poor pearson can only play 1ce for the world cup once in their life

  • thats sad

  • remmus2k and luckyjackrabbit, where is your sense of sympathy?? I can only hope some you do experience this first hand someday. I feel for my brothers badly...I can only pray for them. Don't loose hope.
