There seems to be some confusion between Flash and PDF. Flash is a proprietary format which requires a player from Adobe, and which is not supported by Apple on iOS devices. PDF is an open document format that Apple's software reads just fine. PDFs have been readable on the iPhone and iPad from the very beginning.

Excellent point. Flash is no no on iPhone and iPad but able to read PDFs very well.
