A full size mock-up of the Enterprise Shuttlecraft was built during the making of the original STAR TREK series run. This awesome prop was later given to a school, then sold repeatedly over the years but mostly left to ruin. There is some speculation that it no longer exists but no-one is 100% certain. It's interesting how something so cool wasn't purchased and preserved by anyone at the studio back then.

  • A guy made a replica out of a motorhome in Sacramento? CA, it was driven around the lakebed at the Burning Man festival a few years ago...

  • This is very interesting. It would be nice to know what happened to it. By the looks of all the restoration, there wouldn't have been a whole lot left of the original anyhow. Sadly, many of these things were not realized back then to be worth anything so they were junked. A similar story for the Robot on Lost In Space as it was redesigned and used for a Saturday morning kids show in 1977. By the time it was restored only about 30% of it was original.

  • It's sad that better care wasn't taken of the old shuttlecraft Galileo, but now it's too late to save this without just building a new unit. It would cost more money to try to fix this than a new one would cost just to construct from the ground up. Hopefully if they do build a new version it will be somewhat larger in specs so the actual interior would fit into the exterior shell.

  • A pieces of TV history thrown away, what a loss.

  • It still exists. Lynne Miller has it in Akron, OH.

As of a couple of weeks ago, Doug Drexler and Mike Okuda may be now involved in the restoration.

  • That really sucks. I can't believe it's not in the Smithsonian or another museum somewhere. Some day I'd like to build a full-scale replica of one of these shuttles.

  • There is no speculation..the poor craft was beyond repair and literally thrown away as junk. Scrapped with other pieces of scrap metal and wood.

The owner could not be contacted and the new owner of the yard it was stored in saw it under a tarp and it looked like a pile of scrap wood with paint on it. he had it hauled away as scrap and it was destroyed.

There are several projects going on to build at least two new ones from scratch.

  • WTF? Where is it? NASA could use it now!

  • what a loss......................
