If you are planing a trip to Germany - maybe you want to visit the Oktoberfest ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZzJ1hG3voc ) - you must see one of the oldest medieval cities, Regensburg.
As there is a very large amount of sights in the city and it's impossible to visit all of them within a day, I will only suggest the most important ones here. The advantage of the small size of Regensburg is that many of the sights are located in the central area and you will be able to cover quite a bit just by walking around. :) Regensburg is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe, there is quite a huge amount of old buildings and monuments that you must not miss. The Dome St. Peter and the Stone bridge are the landmarks of Regensburg. My favorite views during our Walk through Regensburg, Germany:

Must-see Nr.1: St. Peter's Church (Dom St. Peter)
The landmark of Regensburg, the Dome St. Peter with impressive colourful stained glass windows from the 13th and 14th century, is the main and the greatest Gothic cathedral in Bavaria. Although the building works started as early as 1260, it was only finished in the 19th century.

Must-see Nr.2: Stone Bridge (Steinerne Brücke)
the Stone Bridge still is one of the most important bridges of the Middle Ages. Built between 1135 and 1146, it was the only fortified crossing of the Danube for a long period that was used by rich trading merchants. From here, you have quite a great view of the city.
