Wow. :(
That's so sad that it was a pet store.
Is this Crawfordsville, IN? I live in Brownsburg.

If mouth breathing, hillbilly morons started this fire by setting off fire crackers in the parking lot, I hope they feel some remorse for the terrible deaths they caused the animals in the pet store. It seems like anyone would know that you don't set off fire crackers right out side a building that sells fireworks and is therefore filled to the brim with explosives. And, isn't it against the law to set off fireworks in the city limits?

They went in on the other side of the building through the front door of the pet store. They cut the bottom glass out of the front door with an axe and wen in with a hose. Another fire engine was around back on green street and other firemen went through that way with a hose. You can look at the front door now and see where they went in, there are crossed boards there now and on the rear door you can see where they used a crowbar around the handle. I saw them.

I live down on Green Street, that was really scary. I do feel sorry for the animals, but I was really scared for the firemen. The fire was over their heads when they were inside there. That building looks like that fire last year in Charleston S.C. that killed 8 firemen. From what I saw they made it out just in time. I wish some people would not be so hard on those guys, they have families that want them home too. I thought they did a good job protecting our neighborhood.

Just lucky no firefighters were killed; that is the same type of building that 8 Charleston S.C. firefighters wree killed in last year.
I feel sorry for the animals too, but I heard the firemen were fighting the fire in the attic space. I live down the street, they worked very hard and when they came out of that place they were in danger. Very Scary!
The lady on the news that said they had time to save the animals must have been sleeping.
According to the police, it's not illegal here in town. Also, keep in mind the fire did NOT start in the fireworks store. It started in the pet store. Personally, I think fireworks should not be shot off in ANY city limits. It's just too dangerous. We all see what can easily happen.

That's good to know. I live directly north of Jackson Hewitt.. 20 yards from the strip mall. I had a good view until they made us leave, and never saw anyone go in through the front though. I did walk around the block earlier, and saw where a crowbar had been used in the back. Weird how the whole place is burned out completely, but that back door AND the wood looks untouched. The whole thing is still surreal, and awful. :(

It's pretty odd. I went outside on my porch (directly next to Jackson Hewitt) when the first fire truck arrived on the scene. I was out there the entire time. Not once did I see ANYONE go inside. At all.

They actually think it was someone's fireworks that they set off. I heard them setting them off in the parking lot not 20 minutes before the fire trucks came. Unfortunately, it wasn't only birds who died.
