Pete always had an answer for everything. Always had an opinion in which is expressed with such honesty and eloquence (even when he was high as a kite). It's really admirable. I can listen to this man give a weather report and still remain intrigued.

@gillan5 For the last fucking time, THE WHO ARE NOT A HIPPIE BAND, PEOPLE. They were LIKED by the hippies, and Mods, etc. They were never truly a Mod (er, as The High Numbers maybe), Punk, Country, Prog, or Metal band. They are a fucking GREAT rock band, and the very embodiment of rock n roll in all it's forms. Pete hated the hippies, Roger didn't ever really do drugs much, John was just a coke head with too twisted a sense of humor to be a treehugger, and Keith was just loaded 100% of the time.

the idiot below doesn't have the real story. the who were dosed by "the people" long after townshend realizes that psychedelics would drive him clinically mad. who wouldn't be angry? realizing that the finances of Woodstock were in as much disarray as the security he demanded a certified check for 10K USD. big whoop. 10 grand

The Who have alway been real British hardboiled bastards. They did not go on stage on Woodstock before getting their money (the only band who pressed for it). He was always complaining about Woodstock that bastard. In the 60ies they threw groupies out of the van in the middle of the night out in nowhere etc. etc. Genius people but real assholes anyway.

Pete Townshend is one of the few musicians I honestly think deserves the title 'genius'.
