1 John 2:15-16 (King James Version)
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Jeremiah 23:24 (NIV)
Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the LORD.

2 Corinthians 4:2 (NIV)
Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

Continuing my series on AKA and the Idolatry of Sorority Membership. I feel to be most effective in this series that I tell you about how I participated in an underground pledge process. Pledging in this sense was a process where for almost 12 weeks, I with other women dressed alike, learned certain greetings, history and traditions of AKA. Bear with me as I give you background as to why I have come to the conclusion that membership in these orgs can lead to idolatry. This process I took part in is designed to foster unity and a bond between those who are taking part by obstacles and challenges put forth by my "big sisters."

I also talk about the Greek culture which led me to believe that I needed to pledge in this manner. There was so much I saw as a interest that I lusted after which was not of God.

The goal here is not to condemn members of AKA or any sorority or fraternity, it is just to use my testimony to maybe help someone see what I now see about my membership. I know that these orgs have many people who join for many reasons. I don't know why you joined if you did, or if you allowed yourself to be hazed, or hazed people like I did, I can only speak for me, but in the same turn I know I speak for many.
