Adorable twelve-day-old kittens! Little baby noises. Aww...

Rainey's six babies are 12 days old here. In the past few days they have been opening their eyes, become able to hear, have been realizing they have bodies that THEY can move (very exciting, it seems!) and that their siblings have bodies that can be batted at and chewed on (or gummed, in their case). They are also learning to walk, propping their little roly-poly bodies up on shaky legs and shuffling along, rather than their previous form of locomotion which consisted of much flopping about and dragging themselves around.

This is the cat who adopted me and immediately the following morning gave birth to six boisterous little kittens. Despite the mother having been homeless for the last two weeks of her pregnancy, she and her babies are all very healthy. Rainey is an excellent mother and is very patient having me handling her babies.

----Update----
At 10 weeks all of the kittens went for adoption with St Francis Of Assisi Animal Rescue. They were all spayed and neutered, and since I was volunteering that day I got to meet the great families they went to! After being neutered, my own mom adopted Rainey, the mother cat!
