@Ruach Ronon is pretty macho. I think he chooses to do things the hard way to impress/intimidate people, which certainly makes sense here since Keller is around.

@Ruach Probably because he hoped to take him quietly, a gun blast would alert enemies to their position of course once he couldn't take him quietly immediate survival takes priority over staying hidden. Also, it makes good television to have them fight hand to hand, people eat that up.

@Lovecraftian Not really, I admit that Ronon is pretty badass. But the Runners were all made Runners for a reason. They're tough bastards.
