If anyone was outside on that warm summer August evening you could not miss the event. It was seen by many people from many states all the way up and down the east coast. I don't know how far inward it could be viewed but it was awsome.
Sometime back in the 80's it once again surfaced in the News and had a name attached to the event as someone in the family mentioned it to me. I have tried to find info on it but seems impossible.
Many test rockets were launched off this island off Virgina.
@ferrett78 That is a very good idea, rofl...I forgot to consider that fact that we might be spamming the crap outta this video's comment section ^_^'''''''

Looks sim to what a few of us saw early 60's in NJ looking south.
Made the news. Expert rockets launched on an island off virginia one evening in August sometime between 8 & 9pm.
Very much like this event except the spirals were very colorful.
They launched 3 of them, very close together and so we were able to see three of them all at once.
Lasted I would say about 5min or so and then faded.
Tried in vein over the years to find info on it but no luck as it was top secret.

@matupiro2010 Because if it was in a different direction, the particles would not be lit up by the sun, and you wouldnt be able to see it.
