This time round, success.

Thanks to ortoslon for his previous runs, which laid the foundations of how a Spelunky run should go and set the bar high for times on the first 15 levels.

Thanks also to zuluman for his improved strategy for the final boss. Around half of the improvement over ortoslon's 3:39 run owes directly to this. (The other half owes to getting ridiculous luck with the level generator in areas 2 to 4.)

Finally, thanks to the_illusionist, for his cheat mod, Spelunky Invincible, which lets you cheat in items. In combination with the tunnel man shortcuts, it made it much easier for me to practice the later areas equipped in the way I would be in an actual run - i.e. with a jetpack and possibly some other item like a mattock or teleporter. It would've taken a lot more deaths for me to become competent in the later areas if the option of cheating in items for them wasn't available.

every speed run ive seeen so far (only saw 2) involes getting a jetpack on the 2nd level if anyone has done a speed run with the starter items no damage it and doesnt use the action button they are god at spelunky
