This time, instead of just showing you a fully constructed hard hat cam setup, I start with a virgin hard hat, and show you step by step how I make a hard hat cam.

It isn't as hard as it may look (to some of you), but it takes time and patience. If you don't have the patience to go slow, then have a friend make the head cam for you.

  • where to get a mount plate like that?

  • @potkor

Most camera shops sell them. Just make sure that it has a square slot on the sides, and not an angled one. The square one slides into the plastic on the hard hat better than the other kind does.

  • Aren't you worried that you're messing with the structure of your safety equpment? What if something lands on your head, and the plastic cracks up starting from the hole you've made and you end up with a brick buried in your noggin?

  • @MudBarf

EXCELLENT QUESTION! I wondered if/when someone would eventually get around to asking it!

This camera mount does NOT serve as a hard hat; nor is it intended to. I only use it IN THE CAB, where a hard hat is not required. On jobs where I am required to wear a hard had outside of the cab, I do not use this camera mount. Glad you brought it up.

  • i am a paratrooper and i would like to jump with one of this but our helmets are not like this? do you know how to do a wristcam?

    thanks from Honduras

  • I'm not sure if it would work, but maybe try sewing a velcro wrist strap to a small camera pouch/bag (the small ones that fit on your belt). Then you could cut a hole in the pouch to allow the lens to protrude when the camera is turned on, allowing it to record video while you where it on your wrist.

You'd probably have to experiment with this idea to get it to work the way you like. That's the only idea that I have.

    Good luck!

  • what on earth is that noise in the background

  • @kimchiman1000 Ah, 'k. Makes sense. I mounted my in-car camera to the dash...

  • Oh, they have clips too, you might be able to clip/clam it to your helmet.

  • @airbornehonduras181 Try doing a search for "MD80" on ebay. Buy one of those cameras (I got the 720x480 version for under £10 inc delivery). It's so small and light, you can probably just tape it to your helmet.

And cheap enough that if it falls off, it's not the end of the world.

I got mine as a dashboard cam for offroading.

  • @whiteeeboyyy or make one just a good for a fraction of 149... retard... nice job kimchiman...

  • is that popcorn popping?
