Andy Andrews - Hernando Cortez & Burn the Boats
Andy Andrews give this dynamic presentation of Burn the Boats from PBS Special covers the attitude of commitment that creates an intense desire for both getting started and persisting without exception.
In February 1519, Hernando Cortez set sail on the final leg of a voyage that was to take him from Cuba, a stopover, to the shores of the Yucatán. He commanded 11 ships, with more than 500 soldiers, 100 sailors, and 16 horses, bound for Mexico to take the world's richest treasure. The precious jewels, gold, silver, and sculptures sheltered on this limestone peninsula had been hoarded by the same army for over 600 years. As they listened, Cortez leaned in and said three simple words that changed everything: "Burn the boats."
i really hate to break it to a bunch of you debbie downers arguing the history of this piece but there was never an organized race between a turtle and a rabbit either. this is a great story used to inspire and motivate, i really hope you watch again and take the positive message ol mr. sunshine here meant for you to get.

Instead of listening to the what Andy is saying people are triping up on other things... I guess they are afraid of "burning their boats".... Good message. Thanks!

You need to look past the re-writing of History in today's books. Look at the original text before he had people literally reverse our history and rewrite it to vilanize the heroes of the past. This is not your fault really. Go ask your teachers why they are doing this, and it will boil down to, "If I don't, I'll lose my job. Just like all the crap in the science books with evolution. This is not science. It came from the likes of Hitler. "You're just animals." Please think and read.

I really like this video by Andy Andrews, reminds you to think about the things in your life which are just floating and holding you back from the success you deserve. Awesome personal exercise for the mind!
