Hello! New to the channel... How long will your potatoes and onions last in the root cellar? Luv the vids!
-
My mother always told me not to keep potatoes near onions. Is this an old wives tale or does it damage the potatoes to store them with onions?

what types of food do you store. i know you list a few here, but i would like to know what else you store/can store in a root cellar. thanks in advance!!

I have a root cellar I can't use right now but hope to later this year.
Sauerkraut isn't hard to make. Just takes a long time. Alton Brown has a great vid on it. LikeTheHat on youtube is his channel.

Out of interest, is your root cellar just an outside building with a concrete floor. Here in Poland, people dig them into the earth - almost like a bunker. Currently we are using our garage but the car has to be outside!
Nice. Very nice. Next summer we will have our land..so I am hoping to produce much more, because I will have more growing space than I do right now. Good stuff. Hope to see the videos of canning the apples, and making fillings, and applesauce. All the nifty things you do with it.

You could make sauerkraut with those cabbages, that is a good way of storing them.
