SignalAmerica.org campaign, mission is to increase Turn Signal enforcement and use nationwide.
This campaign focuses on building public-private partnerships, enacting strong legislation, maintaining active,
high-visibility law enforcement, and conducting effective public education.
WAKE UP AMERICAN DRIVERS
Every State has a law that requires drivers to turn on their turn signal before changing lanes. If these laws are obeyed, the number of unintended lane change crashes and road run-offs would be greatly reduced.
The NHTSA and the insurance industry have reported that unintended lane change crashes have been the direct cause of 23,000 annual fatalities on U.S. roadways. When drivers signal before making a lane change they give others on the road an extra split second of reaction time to adjust their driving. An extra split second is all that is needed to avoid the swerve that very frequently causes crashes and road run-offs. A person's life can either be saved or lost in just a split second.

Ask them: "If the #1 Cause of Fatalities on American Roadways is Unintended Lane Change Crashes, at a cost of 23,000 Lives Annually or 60 Deaths a Day, then why isn't there any National Effort for Turn Signal Awareness and Enforcement?"

People who don't use turn signals, threaten the LIVES of those around them!
You'd think after the US Government spent billions on trying to figure out what causes accidents, they'd push for Turn Signal enforcement. Instead, they put a band-aid called Click-it-or-Ticket, and don't address the root problem!
The government is not protecting my "inalienable rights", life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. MY government leaves out the life part when they don't enforce turn signals!

Cops around me only look for speeders. Guess it's more fun chasing a speeded because they get to go fast. My local Cops in the morning sit on the side of the road watching traffic that move at 5MPH stuck in traffic.

The problem is most turn signal violation tickets are thrown out of court. Most police officers I've spoke with are very frustrated with the lack of cooperation on enforcing turn signal violation tickets.
Our biggest supporters are law enforcement! The Virginia State Police are the exception to the rule, there violators recieve a $1000+ ticket! Way to go Virginia!
