Really a great shot, without using a optional lens.
About the VLC-HGA07: No doubt it's a good lens but I checked the price, and this lens isn't cheap.
It costs approx. 25% of the sony camera in comparison :(

From what I've seen, most cameras now save right to mp4 with no conversion needed. It's the conversion that results in poor quality (and the source of course).

It's an amazing cam! What is the size of the video? Because when i do MPEG4, It's very very compressed in size. Is it stil that, in such good Quality ?

I usually use cheap cameras and wide angle lense for paragliding videos, but after this can't wait to make some insect macro footages with my new XR500.

thanks, no there was no special lens used
But sometimes I use the VLC-HGA07 wide angle, very good lens
