  • Someone should shoot this person.

    Many many times.

    After ripping out their Larynx.

    This is terrorism.

Living proof that there should be retroactive birth control.

  • @AventhLomicien

Like Ashkael has remarked: "Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me". READ THE INFO!!

This posting is about the LYRICS of this song, and how its changed through the years. The person performing here IS TELLING US HOW THE LYRICS WERE WHEN HER MOTHER USED TO SING THE SONG. ITS ABOUT THE LYRICS. THE L Y R I C S. Now repeat after me: LYRICS.

Now educate yourself and google the word "Lyrics"

    Kind regards

  • Is this a prank?

  • No it is not a prank. This song is believed to be some 160 years old, and I posted this for those interested to observe how the lyrics had changed through the years. Read the "Info"

  • i slightly disagree.

Sure, the signer isn't perfect, she sounds like an old lady, singing a song she knew in her childhood, but I love to hear the song with the older lyrics.

It's hard to find this song without all the pretentious instrumental arrangements around it.

But in its beginning it was just a folk song, and it gains back some of his old charm when sung by this lady.

    just my 2 cents.

  • This is Beautiful. <3 People are just rude.

  • The song has been traced back to 1670, The Elfin Knight, (Child Ballads). Another version, The Cambric Shirt was collected by Ralph Vaughan Williams in Essex, UK, 1904. I love how these songs cross the Atlantic, morph and cross back. Even the popular Scarborough Fair by Paul Simon was a lift from Martin Carthy. I love this recording. Thank you for posting it and educating people on the organic nature of songs. Ignore negative comments. No redemption for fools.

  • You should respect old styles. Why do you blame her? She sings an old version of Scarborough Fair, which has long history and many versions.

I'm Japanese but I'm very sad to read these comments.

Read J.F.Child's "English and Scottish popular songs".

  • OMG!!! i thing i gut ear cancer -.- just STOP IT

  • @Shahiina i know what you mean. I can almost smell the baking bread and the home brew bitter

  • thats not Scarborough Fair

  • I actually like it...

  • How can you make such negative comments on this. The song itself has changed countless times over the course of hundreds of years, with a number of different stories. This is gorgeous, it's folk music, it's not about who does it better. It's not about the prestige in the singer. It's about the authenticity and the sincerity of a common peoples life, as is all folk music. If you find this video in search for glamour, search lady gaga. If you find this video in search for life, you found it

  • hey are you trying to play a joke of a beautiful song????
