  • I understand about changing the bass notes depending on the chord, but does the remaining pattern remain the same throughout the song? For instance, in your example of starting out with the C chord, your pattern is 5-3-2-3-1-3-2-3. So for the E chord would is just be 6-3-2-3-1-3-2-3, and the same for G, etc... This does not make much sense because in the E chord shape, you are holding down strings you aren't even playing. Is that right? And an early merry christmas to you!

  • Yes, you have it right! Don't worry about holding down extra strings, it happens all the time. Not too many Christmas listeners right now, but thanks for stoppin by.

  • Thanks so much for this lesson. I took it and put it with what I know and came up with what you see in the video response. Thanks a million. I had to do it on TV and had no idea where to start. Have a Great 2008.

    Logan (sean is my uncle)

  • Hi Logan, I loved your video, and I am always happy to see one of my arrangements played by my students, and yours on live TV, that's a first! Keep up the good work, you will go far, and let me know if you have any song lesson requests.

  • I really like the way you combined your arrangement and mine. That came out nice!

  • Hey Gold, long time subscriber, working away with your lessons, thanks.

One part on this song escapes me though.

What fingering are you using for the Gm, the transition to A7, and finally the A7 you end up on?

All three of those escape me just by watching you. Otherwise, a delight to play, thanks.

  • The Gm is an Em shaped barred at the third fret. Asus is A with 2nd string 3rd fret added. A7 is A with open third string.
