Here are some shots of the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC and the restored steam engine No: 604. If you like the sights and sounds of steam engines, this clip is for you! The Southern Railroad abandoned the site when steam engines fell out of favor. Eventually, the property was turned over to the State of North Carolina. The state formed that Transportation Museum and has been steadily improving the site over the years. Definitively worth a visit if you like steam engines and old trains!

  • Chris9017 actually ive recently seen the 604 sitting on the track next to the street and near the roundhouse its been sitting in the roundhouse everytime i go

  • NS is using TVRM's locomotives and the Southern engine operated by the Three Rivers rambler in Knoxville TN on a very limited basis. The 604 torn down and is "For Sale" if you know of anyone looking to buy their own steam locomotive.

  • Rumor has it that Norfolk & Southern are finding a bunch railroads with run down steam engines, and is restoring them back to steam for future use on mainline excursions, and might come by and help out 604 and 1925. They are working on restoring 722, the other locomotive at Smokey Mountains, along with 4501 and 610, so who knows, they might take 604 and 1925, lets have our fingers crossed that they will.

  • Awesome!
