Nick couldn't take it any longer. The atmosphere of his home was stressing him out to the point that he snatched his keys and walked out the door.

His parents were in the kitchen, baking pastries for the Holidays, and not-so-subtly sneaking sickeningly adorable kisses from each other.
Both of his brothers were consumed by the presence of their beaus.

The eldest, Kevin, was cuddled up on the couch in the living room with his wife Danielle and their puppy Riley, while 'White Christmas' was playing on the wide 56" plasma flat screen.
His other brother, Joe, was most likely at his girlfriend, Ashley's house. Nick knew what they got up to when he snuck off to her house, but he'd rather not think about it if it could be avoided.

Yet, it all came down to the main point:
Nick was lonely.

He wandered the neighborhood streets, ignoring the chilling winds that smacked up against his face. His feet continued their stroll, and eventually Nick found himself at the park, surrounded by high school kids.
Nick skipped his freshmen year in high school so he was currently in his first year at college.
But he did recognize a few of the people scattered across the grassy way, from back when he attended Blake High.

"Nick? Nick Jonas? That you, bruh?"

Nick turned around at the sound of his name, and immediately recognized the caller.

Nick smiled and walked over to him.
"Travis Porter?" he replied cheerfully, accepting Travis' man-hug. "Dude. I haven't seen you in forever. How are you man?"

Travis laughed, taking of his Philly's hat.
"Oh you know, keeping it real. Gotta keep these girls under control."

Nick chuckled and asked, "Anyone here worth my time?" Nick wasn't desperate. He just wanted back in the game.

Travis shook his head. "Naw, man. I don' know. Most the girls here ain't classy enough. They all jus' bitches an' hoes, you know?"

Nick nodded, not the least bit surprised.

"But..." Nicks eyes refocused. "But, if you wanted to gravel...you know work hard for a chick...then that Shelby Hart would be perfect for you."
Nick looked over at the girl Travis was pointing to.

She was gorgeous. Her long brown hair was draped over her shoulders and she was busy warming her hands by the fire.

"She's crazy sexy man. Super nice, but she'll get all puma on you if you mess with her. Trust me, I know. But you should give it a shot, man."

Nick immediately made his way over to her, not at all able to take his eyes off of her beauty.

"Mind if I sit here?"
He made sure to appear confident but approachable so that she'd be interested and not scared.

Her head snapped up and Nicks heart caught in his throat.

Those eyes...

Her carmel orbs raked him skeptically and Nick felt extremely uncomfortable standing there waiting for a response as she looked him up and down.

Nick noticed her face flush as she realized he could see her checking him out, so he put on his famous smirk. That would convince her for sure.

"Sure," she voiced timidly, scooting over so that Nick could sit down next to her. He did so, never taking his eyes off of her.

Shelby felt his stare and gazed back at him nervously, biting her lip in a way that Nick found undeniably hot.

"I'm Nick," he introduced, while sticking his hand out to her.
Shelby half-smiled and shook his hand. She savored the feeling of his skin. It was soft and warm, and she could feel his calloused fingers brush against her palm.

He was a guitar player.
Sexy.

"I'm Shelby." He nodded at her. "Shelby," he said, causing her heart to flutter.
He flashed her a crooked smile and said, "That's a pretty name. Pretty name for a pretty girl."
Shelby could feel her cheeks flushing bright red.
What was wrong with her? No guy had ever made her feel like this before...

"So what are you doing over here all by yourself?" Nick asked politely.
Shelby blinked. "Oh. I came with my sister and my friend Chelsea, but they ditched me for their boyfriends. Henceforth, I am sitting by myself." She looked at Nick. "Well, I was..."

"I see," Nick responded. He had to find out. "So your boyfriends not here?"
Shelby bit her lip again and shook her head, causing her luscious, brown waves to blow in the wind.
"I don't have a boyfriend," she stated intently, as if trying to get a point across.

Nick looked down trying to hide his smile.
But he heard Shelby's giggle, so he looked up and smirked at her anyways.
And to Nicks surprise Shelby smirked back, even throwing in a subtle wink.

This was going to be one awesome Winter.
