The complexity of the operation actually suggests that it was an inside job.
Israel don't want to conquer Lebanon, if anything it's Syria who wishes for that (Bilad al-Sham), but even if they did want Lebanon as an extension of Israel, they don't need to divide any thing, the locals are doing it pretty well themselves.
Take a look at history to understand that in order to unite divided people, you always need an artificial enemy.

@proudlebanese30 the "who benefit the most" argument could be enough as a guiding line, but it could NEVER stand alone as hard evidence.
But under that logic, one only need to take a close look at Hezbollah before and after the assassination to understand how much they benefited.
Prior to 2005 they weren't even half of what they were in 2006 needless to mention their current power on both military and political ground.

dont forget the sources
Listen carefully to me guys and specialy those who love lebanon and hezbollah. Rafiq el harir was a great man and back in the time he didn't have any problem with hezbollah . When he got killed The west blamed hezbollah so they can make a new war between shia and sunni in lebanon. Then they blamed syria. Watch the news today. The russian kbgs says that it was germany who killed him. Beacsue the uraniun was stil on rafiq harirs body. And this rocket was new made and only german has one of them

@Mrfantasticel Thankfully, an informed person worth replying to. What many people fail to understand is that yes, at the time of Rafiq Hariri's death, he was working in collaboration with Hezbollah, and they were not on bad terms, or enemies. Also, hezbollah has had the chance to take over Lebanon several times before, but that IS NOT it's goal, hence it hasn't....Why would they kill Rafiq Hariri, what good came from it for them? the answer, NOTHING came out of it

@Mrfantasticel If humans have learnt anything from past wars, its this. Those who benefit the most are those who should be under scrutiny and suspected of having committed the crime. So far the only outcome has been the brewing of a civil war. Nobody does that to their own people, nobody brings a headache to themselves, it is NOT rocket science to be able to see that it was an outside job...to "divide and conquer"
