From the expanse of the plateau at Shai, to the cliffs of Volta, the landscape of Ghana is striking. One is taken aback by expansive grasslands that extend to the farthest visible reaches as is the case at Shai when you hike up one of the large hills that overlook the plateau. At Helekpe the mountain stands resolute and imposing as clouds dissolve in it's rock face. During the rainy season it can be said that the weather can turn on a dime in Volta - and Helekpe and Wli are no exception. There are eco-tourism projects at both Helekpe and Wli which help create growth in the respective communities. Although, admittedly a great deal must be done in order to eliminate the poverty altogether. Wli is looking for a sister city - if you think that your community would be interested then please contact 'The Afri-Can Connection' for more information.
