After watching a very good documentary on HBO about a school in Mississippi having it's first integrated Prom (in 2008, I know, I was blown away as well), it reminded me of growing up in Alabama and being told things about other races. It's amazing what you can get a child to believe! So, what are some of the things YOU were raised to believe, that you NOW know are not true? RATE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE

  • friend was half black and half white and my mom's husband would not let her come to our house so I spent a lot of time at her's and my mom and I spent a lot of time bitching at him about being racist and explaining why it was stupid. And eventually he did change his ideas after getting to know mine and my mom's friends. But we caught a lot of shit from his racist idiot (not just bc they were rascist) friends just for having black friends (who are the best friends I've ever had!)

  • I heard a lot of racist stuff as a kid. No really weird horrible myths like you heard, but my mom's husband had me under the impression that only black people commited crimes (that didn't last long and I recognised him as a racist). Until I was like 7 and watched "The Color of Friendship" on disney channel I didn't know black and white people talked to eachother! I thank that movie for giving me perspective in a cloudy world of a small mississippi town. By the time I was in middle school my best

  • How can telling children this type of crap be legal?

  • Very good video. Racism truly saddens me and when I see it on the internet, it kills my heart.
