After a video I saw with a laptop booting very fast with a solid state drive (SSD) and everyone being extremely jealous of the 17.5sec booting time from the bootloader screen, I decided to give it a try to see how slower is an old system with a standard IDE drive so I used the following setup:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2500+
RAM: 2x512MB DDR400
HDD: IDE ATA 120GB Maxtor Plus9
Windows Bootloader Bar at sec 27
FF loaded Google at sec 45
Total Boot time 45-27 = 18sec
Older system, no fancy SSD or SATA or super fast DDR3 or quadcore CPUs.
The assumptions are yours...
