Giving to nine monks as part of our Buddhist wedding in Phayao, Thailand.

We are outside Thicha's family house at 7am. Our Buddhist wedding ceremony was for family only and was on 5th September 2009.

Each monk gets water, lotus flower, chicken stew, sauce, rice and candles. We put it in their bowls but we have to be careful not to touch them or the bowls with our hands.

  • What does this signify? Is this a typical ritual for a Thai marriage?

Btw congratulations, you did good, she looks very beautiful :)

  • @exoxe Yes - this is pretty typical part of a Thai marriage. We give alms to the monks and in return they offer blessing to our wedding.

  • @berrisf I am assuming there is more to it than this, correct? I guess I could Google it :) Just wondering how long the whole marriage ceremony is versus a typical Western wedding. Did you end up staying in Thailand or did you move elsewhere?
