*HOW I TAUGHT MY BIRD TO TALK*


I first taught my parakeet "pretty bird" because I heard that phrase is a good one to start with. Myself and my family would always repeat it to my bird over and over throughout the day and every time we walked past his cage. After about four months, he finally said it. Now he can repeat phrases and words in just a couple of weeks.So, just think of a phrase and repeat it over and over to your bird. Don't give up because it might take a while until it says it's first word. If you have any questions, just ask!

Wow!

I have had one, called Pino (of course). He was fun, out of his cage when we were home, when I was in the kitchen running the faucet he'd fly from the living room through the hall way and sit on my hand, trying to get himself under the streaming water. Or, when I would take the cheese from the fridge, he'd come in like a bomber plane to see if he could get a bite. Or he would go into the shower with my husband or children. They are fun animals, very attached to the family they belong to.

I had a budgie for nine years, and she talked a lot, too, but I made the mistake of talking to her in a "baby-talk" voice, so she never spoke as clearly as this. And she learned really fast, too! I got her as a baby, the store told me it was a girl, she learned to say her name, "Molly", and "Pretty girl!" and then we found out she was actually a he! Unfortunately, my little sister let her out of the cage without supervision last year and my brother's cat got her. But budgies definitely talk!
