My drum teacher Jeff Mann playing the double bass beat that is in the Meshuggah song Future Breed Machine.

The hands make the beat 4/4 BUT the feet are in 7/8. Around 175 bpm.

It is a pretty challanging beat...im even still working on it!

  • also when you did the last beat the hi hat is just supposed to play quarter notes.

  • that was good, the fun part is learning the beat after that, and then the one after that....the one that seems too complex cause of the cymbal patterns, it's actually very easy, if you're having trouble hearing the kick drum pattern just remember the hey mickey you're so fine beat, and speed it up to this tempo(yes it's the exact same beat he just does 3 fast notes on the crash followed by 4 slower crashes(i'm not good with the whole theory aspect of music)

  • i dont care how hard it is. this is a fucking dope beat. no matter what meshuggah is on top of everything in the metal world. nice work man.

  • you look dead man lol put sum feeling into it

  • dang your just flailing that stick all over

  • Thomas Haake ghost note's his snare though. Pretty much always too.

  • this is easy man.. the one i have a problem with is "syl - relentless"

  • Thanks for the feedback guys...just to clarify - My student recorded this so he could watch it over and over to get the groove down - My technique definitely isnt perfect, but particularly in this video looks bad because i am a righty playing on a lefty setup so cymbals are in akward places etc. Anyway - I just got an HD camera so I will be uploading a ton of new material on youtube in the next few weeks - be on the look out!
