  • heyy. im currently building a MOT set up atm.. and iv had an electrical come round and fit a 240v 32amp box to connect my mot set up to.. would 2 mots in series to make 4400v with no ballast trip the 32amp braker? i know its hard to say with transformers all being diffrent etc but a rough guess would be grate :)

    cheers.

  • @ExtraSilver hi, 2 mots would draw around 40 amps from the 240 volts with their outputs shorted. The breaker has some thermal "inertia" which would make it trip maybe after a minute (rough guess) at 40 amps, at which time your MOTs would be smoking hot, so the breaker rating is fine...

  • This is AC and a capacitor contacts AC and blocks DC! How the caps did not sorting the transformer?? It's an tuned LC circuit? And if it is then at some point the arc will be smaller right?

  • @ExplosiveAnyThing Yes you're right, it's a kind of resonant circuit.

  • How are your MOTs and caps wired?

  • @a380rockerfan The MOTs are in series, caps are 3 in parallel x2 in series.

  • The most awesome rubber ducky.

  • How many showering neighbors did you kill ?

  • So using 6 caps as 2x3 creates bigger arcs?

  • @Spoif No ballast here.
