This is not at all fake. Heres why. Say the car is going 40 MPH and he threw the ball. The ball has the same momentum of the car (acceleration) so the ball would need to be thrown early, since its going 40 MPH.

it doesnt curve, its inertia and momentum, the car is speeding therefore the ball tends to stay in motion of the car so thats why they threw it way ahead of time so the inertia of it stayed towards the basketball and sunk it!
