Columbia A5838 (48828) "The Missouri Waltz" (Arr. by Logan) Played by Prince's Orchestra (Under the supervision of G. Hepburn Wilson). First issued circa late 1922. Played on my VV-VIa.

I dedicate this version of Truman's favorite song to him and his bride.

  • It is a great song--but, contrary to one of the characterizations of President Truman's opinion (that he liked it).I must say that it is mistaken.

    He detested the song....

Poor Harry had it really stuck in its craw when Richard Nixon played it for him on one occasion

  • Km2711, That's interesting. I have always heard and read he loved it and played it often. I'll have to do some more research on the subject!

    Regards, J.

  • "fuzzbear", I went to Goodwill today and I hot a couple of 78's by Prince's Orchestra. This song I don't have it in my collection. These are all 12" 78 releases dates back to the early 1920's. I might playing it on my GE Wildcat from the 1970's but it is also recommended for playing on a Victor Victrola, my GE Wildcat does the job.

  • BrooklynMouseReturns, (Sorry for the delay in responding.) I alway enjoy a side by Prince's Orch. I look forward to hearing your records here.

    Regards, J.

  • I'm sure I will, you can see my 78's that I posted os on my other channel "MagcialWorldofMusic" and look for a really old Victor 78 played on my GE Wildcat.

  • Brooklyn..., I certainly will check it out. Thanks.

    Regards, J.

  • Harry S Truman the only Democrat in the 100 years that I respect !!!!

  • David McCollough, in his Pulitzer Prize-winning Truman emphasized that Truman detested the song.

  • 11dubbin11, (Sorry for the delay in responding.) I'm sorry you don't like the song, as state songs go-it's one of the very best I think. Thank you for watching.

    Regards, J.

  • That comment won't gain you any love on the States, but it will make you an OK guy anywhere else
