I am surprised that Jamaicans have given "sorrel" the name Jamaican sorrel. It surely did not originate in Jamaica. Sorrel is planted all over the West Indies, Guyana, South America, Central America, some countries in the East, Egypt, Sudan, Malaysia and Africa and I am sure in other countries. I am quite sure that the East or Africa had it planted before the Caribbean.
