A little piece of my heart// My dog one shot.

This may be a stupid story to some of you. Or maybe alot of you could relate.
Either way, Im putting my feelings out in something I love that is now gone.

Have you ever had that one person/Thing that everytime you see it your face
explodes with smiles? I have, hasnt everyone? Some of you may say it was your mom,
dad, a picture, a friend, or so on that made your stomach curl.Well mines a little different,
because mines my dog. Didnt at least one time in your life you wrote about your animal,
maybe in first or second grade? I guess Im just wanting to write mine now.

I was in first grade. The year where you didnt care about anything except getting to the swings
first on the playground. This was different though, because I really did care and I left
a part in my heart just for it. It was the year I recieved my dog. Just a day out of the
blue my step - dad came home with this big, furry, yellow object! You see when your only
a first grader and all the pets you had was a cat you really wonder what this is.
Also a bad thing is that your small and cant find a way in the crowded circle forming
around this yellow object. Finally, my mother found me staring so she brought the dog
towards me. Yeah, of course I was scared, what would it do to me? How would I know?
The little yellow creature showed its cute face with its pink tongue hanging out, which
of course I made this sound "Awww". They told me it was our new dog that we would keep.
My mom ended up naming him 'Niko', please dont ask me how they got the name, but some how
it was perfect!

I remember teaching him how to get on the couch, which made my mom go nuts, but I didnt
care! Also I remember taking him on walks, feeding him, have him chase me, and cuddle up
to him when I felt like it. It was the best years of my life! Until I hit fourth grade..

Fourth grade year was not the best. I mean it did have its perks but Im talking about my
dog here. We took little Niko to the vet as a regular visitor and didnt know this would
happen.

On the first day of fourth grade my teacher asked us what we were going to do when we
got home..Do you know what I said?

I said I was going to play with my dog as much as possible, because I found out he had
epilepsy.

Do you know what that is? I will tell you anyway.

Its a disease where you have seizures. You cant control whats happening to you and
when you see it happen, its literally horrible. Foam comes out of his mouth, he thrashes
on the floor, pees and then sometimes after goes blind for a bit.

We gave him medicine and everything, but there is no cure and still isnt.
Let me tell you, we cared about our yellow lab! We payed 100s of dollars on him!

Trust me, I didnt think this was bad. I thought we would fine a cure and everything would
be okay, but it wasnt.

It ended up being worse. He would have a seizure all night, take him to the vet. Then
repeat this rountine later in life. We knew someday we would have to put him down.
But I didnt think it would happen last month.

This year I forgot that he had epilepsy! He hadnt had a seizure in so long, until that day.
It was a week before my parents wedding and thats when he had it. We took him to the vet
not thinking it would be the last day we would see him and went back to what we were doing
earlier that day. Days later my parents told me that we may have to put him down that day.
We stayed strong.
Until later when it really did happen. They came home crying and told us the bad news.

Niko's dead.

We didnt stay so strong then.

My yellow little furball would never be seen again! I was crying and not wanting to be seen
by anyone. But of course since my parents wedding was coming I had to focus on that.

The day of the wedding, My mom and her friend and I went to set up outside.
I saw this yellow lab. He was walking and suddenly stopped. It walked by our car window and
jumped on the side, looked in and left.

It was just like Niko.

Niko is now in ashes. He died on October 7th 2010, and hes still in out hearts.

This may be a stupid story to some of you. Or maybe alot of you could relate.

IT'S NOT STUPID!! in 5th grade my yellow lab was tied up with the leash on our porch which was kinda high...me and my mom went to the store and she told me to unlock the backdoor and as i went into the backyard i found my dog hanging...with foam coming out its mouth..me and my mom tried to revive it but it didn't work..that was the worst day of my life&to make matters worse.it was the anniversary of when my grandpa died from cancer and i cry every time on that day..i'm crying now..it still hurts

Girlyy this us not a stupid story!!! Believe me I went through the same exact thing I know how it feels! The seizures r terrible my dog had the same thing!! Just to let u know I'm here to talk If u need someone to talk to my dog has been gone 4 years so ik how to get through it lol -3

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's about 6 months now since you lost your little friend but believe me, I know how you feel when you say you miss and love your dog. Obviously he was special to you and you to him. I just lost my Dog 10 days ago and my heart is broken. Someone said to me, ''you know, your Casper wasn't just a Dog, he was a little person in a fur coat'', that meant a lot to me and I wanted to share it with you. You'll never forget Niko, he will always be in your heart.

Feel spry for ya had a great beautiful golden retriever his name was Clifford I was 10 or 11 and I am 13 now and I think he died 2009 October not sure exactly what day but we had to put him down because of a throat tumor and he was old anyway so he had a really hard time getting up stairs we had to supervise him on the stairs like he was a two year old and cuz of his tumor he had a hard time breathing and eating it was the worst day of my life

I posted videos on here of my dog the day she was hit by the car and the day after showing her condition and recovery. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I felt the emotion in your story.

I had a lab mix when I was in 4th grade and unfortunately she liked to chase cars. One day she followed my bro to the bus, tried chasing it and got sucked between the tires. She had to be put down cuz her bones were all broken and had massive internal bleeding. We now have another lab and I'm 36 now. We just got her a month ago from a friend and 2 days ago she was hit by a car. I was at work at the time and was freaking out cuz I couldn't get to her and thought she would die. I felt that same s

the same sought of thing happened to my dog. we'd had him since i was 2 years old. we had 2 dogs a black and a brown lab. the brown one named freddie was the one who died. the 2 dogs were in the garden and found a rabbit and started to eat it. later on my maid called we were in another country- and told us that they were having seizures. she took them to the vet but only the black one survived because he was a lot younger. my parents told me a week later and that night i cried my self to sleep
