  • when i got back to the car i was shocked to find my mate had not returned after about 40 mins he turned up in a landrover some how he ended up in Eskdale & managed to hitch a lift back to the campsite

  • This ascent & descent was from the wasdale side. on the way down we drifted apart it was my first time totally lost no map or compass didn,t have a clue where i was i dropped down a few hundred meters & sheltered huddled in a rock out crop it started to get dark i had no torch i sat there for a while the weather eased off so i decided to follow the flow of water first by sound then i could see it it turned into Lingmell Gill we where camping in wasdale i made it back to the car soaking wet

  • You pair of tools, winter conditions and not even the basics of map and compass!? Then you manage to get split up? This is the stuff that MRT callouts are made from, ill-prepared, under-experienced folk thinking they're Bonnington.

NEVER go out on the hills without a map, compass, whistle and emergency food. in conditions like that I'd say a bivvy bag is a must as well.

  • fancy goin up there with no map and compass you thick twat. FAIL TO PREPARE, PREPARE TO FAIL.

  • You must be masochists. I did that walk last week, got as far as Broad Crag in the high wind, rain and fog, then had to turn back as I couldn't see anything. The climb was never ending and very tough!

  • nice, i remember doing that in the summer an it was freesing. an the funny thing was that when i got to the top i was expeting snow, an there was, but it was only 3 metres wide lol. but i hope to go back in february 2011. i hope there is snow then.

  • cool
